The Next 60,000 Years
By Norman Spencer

Written at Wellington in the year 2000

Thanks

I thank my wife Joan and the family for their support, and I thank my friend Laurie Neilson. For many years, Laurie has been an excellent 'sounding-board' for my ideas: he deserves a gold medal for his patience and kindness.

In 1950, Enrico Fermi posed the question ... 'If there are so many advanced civilisations out there, where is everybody?' One suggestion, implicit in Fermi's question, is that our species is the only advanced civilisation in the universe. Norman Spencer's work supports this view and indicates that our species is absolute, creating itself and its environment.
